Layan Gardens Nears Completion

Layan Gardens, the luxury apartment development is almost finished with a number of properties already handed over and occupied. The project is really looking superb, with the landscaping around the swimming pool complex.

The third project in Phuket of the developers, Layan Gardens has been bought by both families as a holiday home and Phuket residents.

The location of the resort style project being next to Laguna Phuket and the Laguna Phuket Golf Club and close to Layan and Bang Tao beaches is a major attraction. The Layan coastline has become a sort of five star area on Phuket. The spacious three bedroom apartments and penthouses offer more living room than many houses with their spacious balconies opening out from the living room.

The facilities include the big swimming pool complex and BBQ areas, tennis court and golf chipping and putting area.

Some final landscaping is being completed and the golf greens and sand bunkers will be constructed within a few weeks.

Any apartment still available can be ready to occupy within seven days.

Johnnie Walker Classic

The16th Johnnie Walker Classic , Asia’s premier golf event presented by the world’s leading deluxe Scotch whisky brand, will be played at the Blue Canyon Country Club on the resort island of Phuket, Thailand, March 1-4, 2007.

Heading the customary star-studded field will be three of the world’s top ten players: Adan Scott, and Retief Goosen, currently ranked 4 and 6 in the world respectively, South African Ernie Els, the world number five, plus English Ryder Cup star, Paul Casey

The European Ryder Cup team’s talisman Colin Montgomerie, reigning captain Ian Woosnam and former captain Sam Torrance will also line up alongside past US Masters Champion, Mike Weir in the US$2.44 million tournament, referred to as Asia’s premier golf event since its inception in 1990.

Ownership of Layan Gardens

The ownership laws and foreign investment and Thailand have always been a subject of some discussion and controversy. Layan Gardens is sold within the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand governing foreign ownership and you don’t need an expensive lawyer to tell you anything different. You can spend the money if you want, but it won’t change anything, apart from being in 49% of a condominium block, there is only one legal way to own property in Thailand as a foreigner.

Phang Nga Bay Regatta

Phang Nga Krabi Regatta is held every year over Chinese New Year. The regatta is sailed through some of the world’s most beautiful waterways, among the islands of Phang Nga Bay and the Andaman Sea.

The regatta is one of several held in Phuket each year including Phuket Race Week and the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta. While the others are about serious racing, the Phang Nga Krabi Regatta is more about having fun, partying and enjoying the scenery.

Carrefour Opens In Phuket

The new Jungceylon Shopping complex including a Carrefour superstore has opened on Patong Beach. Patong now has a one way traffic system, making the flow a lot easier. There are loads of modern shops, cafés and restaurants, a multiplex cinema, so Patong, while still fun for its nightlife, restaurants and bars, is going a lot more up market. Since Bangla Street was closed to traffic at night and became a “walking street” as it is officially called in Pattaya, Patong seems to be attracting more families.
